Late May in Indiana tends to deliver, and Maddy and Justin's wedding day was no exception. We made the trip to Owl Ridge in Greencastle, one of our favorite venues in the Indianapolis area, for a celebration that set a new bar for elegance and personal detail. These two came in with a vision, and they executed it beautifully.

A Chicago Love Story, Celebrated in the Indiana Woods

Maddy and Justin brought a level of polish and intention to their day that reflected where they're from. The Chicago couple had thought through every element, and it showed, not in a stiff, over-produced way, but in the kind of thoughtful, layered details that make a wedding feel distinctly theirs. Owl Ridge, nestled among wooded ridges overlooking Owl Creek just west of Indianapolis, gave them the perfect canvas: spacious, naturally beautiful, and built for celebrations that mean something.

The Details That Made It Theirs

This is the kind of wedding where you notice the small things. Custom cake cutting utensils engraved with their names. Cornhole boards featuring their monogram and a personal logo. A full cigar bar set up as a party favor for guests to enjoy. None of it felt like it came off a Pinterest checklist -- it all felt like Maddy and Justin.

The floral work from Infinite Blooms and Designs complemented the elegance of the space without overpowering it, and the cake from Shannon Arias (@shannycakes8) was as beautiful to photograph as it was to eat.

The Espresso Martini Tower

We've shot a lot of weddings, and we had not seen this before. Instead of the traditional champagne tower pour, Maddy and Justin did an espresso martini tower, a tiered display of glasses they filled by pouring a freshly made espresso martini from the top. The crowd loved it, and honestly, so did we. It was one of those moments that perfectly captured who they are as a couple.

A Timeline Built Around What Mattered

One thing that stands out about working with couples who know what they want: they make decisions that protect the moments that matter most. Maddy and Justin specifically wanted to be present for their cocktail hour, which meant being intentional about family portraits beforehand. We built their timeline to make that happen, moving efficiently through formal photos so they could walk into cocktail hour as husband and wife, drinks in hand, right alongside their guests.
